Locke emphasizes the central role of sensory experience in the acquisition of knowledge. Our senses, such as sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell, provide us with raw data about the external world. Simple and Complex Ideas

Locke classifies ideas into two primary categories: simple and complex. Simple ideas are the basic building blocks of thought and are derived directly from sensory experience. For example, the sensation of warmth or the perception of the color red constitutes simple ideas.
