As per the official SSC CGL paper pattern 2025, the examination will be conducted in 2 stages – Tier 1 and Tier 2. Both Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams will be conducted in Computer-based Online mode. The Tier 1 exam comprises 100 questions for a total of 200 marks, with each question carrying 2 marks each. The questions will be objective-type MCQs. There will be 3 papers in Tier 2 – Paper I (Compulsory for All Posts), Paper II (For Junior Statistical Officer - JSO). SSC CGL Exam Pattern for Tier 1
As per the SSC CGL pattern for Tier 1, the paper consists of 4 sections – General Intelligence & Reasoning, English Language & Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. The exam will be conducted online for a total of 200 marks for 100 questions. The total cumulative duration of the exam is 60 minutes or 1 hour. There is no sectional time limit in the Tier 1 exam. The SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam will be of qualifying nature and marks will not be counted in the final selection.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern for Tier 2
The SSC CGL Tier-2 exam will be conducted in 2 phases – Paper 1, and Paper 2.
- Paper I which is compulsory for all posts
- Paper-II for candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

Is SSC CGL Tier 2 compulsory for all?
As per the revised SSC CGL Exam Pattern for Tier 2, Paper I is compulsory for all posts. Paper II will be only for candidates who apply for the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) posts in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
Is there any negative marking for SSC CGL 2025?
Yes, there is a negative marking of ½ marks for each wrong answer in SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam, 1 mark for Paper 1 of Tier 2 and ½ marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III.
