The Indian Army has recently released the JAG Indian Army Selection Procedure for the 2023 exam cycle. The Indian Army Recruitment of JAG (Judge Advocate General) has three stages namely Shortlisting of Candidates, Interviews, and Medical Tests. All detailed insights regarding the selection process are elaborated in the following page.
- All the candidates must go through the details of the JAG Indian Army Selection Procedure so that they get familiar with the examination process.
- As per the Indian Army JAG Eligibility Criteria, the aspiring candidate must be a three-year or five-year law degree graduate with a minimum of a 55% aggregate. Furthermore, the candidate must be registered with the State/Indian Bar Council.
- Candidates who are shortlisted will be chosen based on their performance in the SSB interview and Medical Examination, and a merit list will be prepared based on the candidate's performance in the SSB interview.

JAG Indian Army Recruitment Selection Process 2022
Shortlisting of Candidates, Interviews, and Medical tests are the three stages of the Indian Army JAG Recruitment. Candidates who pass all stages are chosen for the Judge Advocate General's Short Service Commission (NT) (JAG 31). The detailed information for the JAG 31 Selection Process is provided below.
- Shortlisting of Candidates - In the first stage of the Indian Army JAG Selection Process, candidates will be shortlisted, and selection will be made based on their eligibility and transcripts. The selected candidates will be notified via email of the next round, which will be an interview.

- SSB Interview - The SSB Interview is the second stage of the Indian Army JAG Selection Process. This is a time-consuming process with numerous rounds. Typically, the process takes 5 days. Candidates who pass all of the rounds will be eligible for the Medical Examination. The information in the following points pertains to the rounds of the second stage.

- Group Testing Office (GTO)
- Personal Interview

- Medical Examination - The final round of the JAG Indian Army Selection Procedure includes a panel by the medical round to determine the candidate's overall medical eligibility.
JAG Indian Army Selection Process 2023 - Shortlisting
Shortlisting is the first stage of the JAG 31 Entry Scheme and in this round, the selection of the candidates is based on their eligibility and marks scored in the LLB program. The candidates who are selected are sent an email to choose the desired date for the SSB Interview

JAG Indian Army Selection Process 2023 - SSB Interview
SSB Interview is the second stage of the JAG 31 selection process and the time-consuming process involves various stages. It is conducted for 5 days and has several stages in it. The candidates have to qualify for each round individually. The candidates can find the details of the different Stage 2 in the space below:
Stage 2A: Screening
The screening is the first stage of the SSB Interview in which the potential of the candidates is judged based on the following tests:
- Verbal and Non-Verbal Test
- PPDT
Stage 2B: Psychological Test
The Psychological test is the second level of the SSB Interview and there are 4 sub-levels the same as mentioned below:

- Thematic Apperception Test [TAT]
- Word Association Test [WAT]
- Situation Reaction Test [SRT]
- Self Description Test [SD]
Stage 2C: GTO
The GTO (Group Testing Office) is the third level and has 9 tasks. This round is designed with the idea of checking the mental and physical well-being of the candidates.
- GD (Group Discussion)
- GPE (Group Planning Exercise)
- PGT (Progressive Group Task activity)
- HGT (Half Group Task)
- IoT (Individual Obstacles Task)
- Command Task

- FGT (Final Group Task)
Stage 2D: Personal Interview
This is the fourth stage of the SSB Interview round and it involves judging the overall IQ of the candidates. There could be questions revolving around the details filled in the candidates' application form, i.e. educational background, knowledge of different issues in the country, etc.
Stage 2E: Conference
Stage 2E is the conference round and the last round of the SSB Interview and it only checks if the candidates are mentally and physically fit for the role. The candidates who qualify all the rounds are called for the third stage i.e. Medical Exam.
JAG Indian Army Selection Process 2023 - Medical Examination
The Medical Examination is the last and final stage of the selection process. In this round, a panel appointed by the medical board checks if the candidates are medically fit and free from any kind of chronic illness or deformities.
