Given :

The sum of the ages of Sarala and Kishore is 26 years.

3 years ago, Kishore was \(\frac{3}{2}\) times as old as the Sarala.

Calculation :

Let present age of Sarala be x years and present age of Kishore be y years.

According to question,

Sum of present ages of Sarala and Kishore is 26 years.

⇒ x + y = 26

⇒ x = 26 - y ----------- (1)

3 years ago , Kishore was \(\frac{3}{2}\) times as old as Sarala.

⇒ (y - 3) = \(\frac{3}{2}\) (x - 3)

⇒2y - 6 = 3x - 9

⇒ 3x - 2y = 3

⇒ 3 (26 - y) - 2y = 3 --------- from(1)

⇒78 - 3y - 2y = 3

⇒ 78 - 3 = 5y

⇒y = 15 ------------ (2)

Now, from (1) and (2),

⇒ x= 26 -15

⇒ x =11

Hence, The present age of Sarala is 11 years.
