Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFLet the ages of A and B be in the ratio 6:5.
Let the age of A = 6x and the age of B = 5x
The age of C is 5 years less than twice the age of B:
Age of C = 2 × Age of B - 5
Substitute the age of B:
Age of C = 2 × 5x - 5 = 10x - 5
The difference between the ages of A and C is 11 years:
Age of C - Age of A = 11
(10x - 5) - 6x = 11
4x - 5 = 11
4x = 16
x = 4
Substitute x = 4 into the age of A:
Age of A = 6x = 6 × 4 = 24 years
Thus, the age of A is 24 years.
