Download Solution PDFFather's age is 30 years more than the son's age. Ten years hence the father's age will become three times the son's age that time. What is son's present age in years?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Father's age = Son's age + 30
Father's age + 10 = 3 × (Son's age + 10)
Formula used:
Let son's present age be 'x' and father's present age be 'y'.
Calculation:
y = x + 30 ...(1)
y + 10 = 3(x + 10) ...(2)
Substitute (1) in (2):
x + 30 + 10 = 3x + 30
x + 40 = 3x + 30
40 - 30 = 3x - x
10 = 2x
x = 10 / 2
x = 5
∴ The son's present age is 5 years.
