Age ratio = 5 ∶ 4

Age difference = 8 years

Find younger student's age

Concept:

Ratio of two quantities of the same kind and in the same units is a fraction that shows how many times the one quantity is of the other.

Solution:

Difference in ratio = 5 - 4 = 1

Age corresponding to 1 part in ratio = Age difference = 8 years

Younger student's age = 4 parts in ratio × Age corresponding to 1 part in ratio = 4 × 8 = 32 years
