Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
A works 5.4 times as fast as B, and A takes 22 days less than B to complete the job when each works alone.
Concept used:
Efficiency = (Total work / Total time taken)
Efficiency = work done in a single day
Calculation:
Time ratio of A : B = 1 : 5.4
Time ratio of A : B = 5 : 27
So A takes 5x days B takes 27x days
As per the question,
27x - 5x = 22
⇒ x = 1
So A takes 5 days and B takes 27 days
So they together take,
⇒ (27 × 5) / 32 = \(4\frac{7}{32}\)days
∴ The correct option is 3
