Original volume percentage = 100%

Reduced volume percentage = 72.9%

Formula used:

Volume of a cube = Side³

If the side is reduced by x%, then the volume is reduced by (1 - x/100)³

Calculation:

Let the original side be S.

Reduced volume = (0.729) × S³

Let the new side be S'

S'³ = 0.729 × S³

⇒ (S'/S)³ = 0.729

⇒ S'/S = 0.9

⇒ S' = 0.9S

The side of the cube is reduced by 10%.

∴ The correct answer is 10%.
