Thinking is a cognitive activity. It refers to a pattern of behaviour in which one makes use of internal representations of external events such as symbols and signs of the events for the solution of some specific problem.

The various elements/raw materials involved in the thinking process are:

Images: Images are ‘mind pictures’ that contains the personal experiences of an object or event.

Concept: It is a general idea that stands for a general class.

Symbols: They represent the substitutes for actual experiences and activities.

Language: It is the development tool used for the process of thinking.

Muscular activities: There is a correlation between thinking and muscular activities of an individual.
