Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The printed price of a TV set is ₹14,500. It is sold for ₹10,000 with two consecutive discounts.
The first discount is 10%.
Concept used:
Selling Price = Marked Price × (1 - Discount%)
Calculation:
The price becomes after the first discount = 14500 × (1 - 10%) = Rs. 13050
Let the second discount be R%.
According to the concept,
13050(1 - R/100) = 10000
⇒ (1 - R/100) = 10000/13050
⇒ (1 - R/100) = 200/261
⇒ R/100 = 1 - 200/261
⇒ R/100 = 61/261
⇒ R = 6100/261
⇒ R = 23.371 ≈ 23.37
∴ The second discount is 23.37%.
