Calculation:

Difference between production of company X and company Y in 2002 = 82 - 53 = 29

Difference between production of company X and company Y in 2003 = 92 - 61 = 31

Difference between production of company X and company Y in 2004 = 91 - 74 = 17

Difference between production of company X and company Y in 2005 = 81 - 39 = 42

∴ Minimum difference is in year 2004.

Option 2 is the correct answer.
