CONCEPT:

  • Frequency (f): In physics, it is defined as the number of waves that pass in a fixed time is known as frequency.
  • Wavelength (λ): The distance between two crests and troughs is called wavelength.

CALCULATION:

Given that:

Frequency = 100 Hz

Wavelength = 50 cm = 0.5 m 

Speed of sound = frequency × wavelength = 1000 × 0.5 = 500 ms-1 

Speed =  Distance/Time 

500 =  500/Time

T = 500/500 = 1sec
