The West Bengal School Service Commission has published the WBSSC Assistant Teacher Eligibility Criteria 2025 on the official website, along with the official announcement PDF. Before submitting an application, candidates must meet all of the WBSSC Assistant Teacher Eligibility requirements. If it is discovered that a candidate provided inaccurate information in their application, their candidacy will be revoked.

Candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 40 as of January 1, 2025, according to the WBSSC Assistant Teacher Eligibility Criteria 2025. However, there are age relaxations for reserved groups, such as SC/ST candidates, OBC applicants, and candidates with physical disabilities, which can be up to 8 years. Candidates must have a B.Ed. from an accredited university and a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% of the possible points; a Master's degree might be required for specific topics. Candidates must also have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), which is administered by the appropriate West Bengal education authorities in compliance with NCTE guidelines. Candidates must also have completed secondary, higher secondary, or graduation/post-graduation coursework in the language of instruction, such as Bengali, English, Urdu, or another language.

The minimum age limit is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 40 years on 1st January, 2025. Upper age limit is however relaxable as per Government norms for Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe, OBC, and Physically Handicapped candidates.

Note: There is relaxation of 5% marks in educational qualification will be allowed for the reserved candidates.
The basic criteria for applying for the West Bengal Assistant Teacher post is that the candidate needs to be an Indian nationals. The applicants are also judged on Hindi/Bengali in the written examination, as they might have to converse with children as an when required in the same language.
If the Regional Commission has any doubts regarding the degree of disability of a physically disabled candidate during document verification, they may refer the matter to the appropriate medical authority established in accordance with the West Bengal Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1999. The aforementioned competent medical authority will make the final determination about the candidate's eligibility.
