Question
Download Solution PDFThe distance between two parallel shafts connected by Oldhams coupling is 20 mm. The driving shaft revolves at 200 R.P.M. Determine the maximum velocity of sliding.
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFConcept:
Maximum sliding velocity in Oldham’s coupling
= Peripheral velocity along the circular path
= angular velocity of shaft × distance between shafts = ω × d
Calculation:
Given:
d = 20 mm = 0.020 m, N = 200 rpm
\(\therefore {\rm{\omega }} = \frac{{2\pi \times 200}}{{60}} = 20.94~\frac{{rad}}{s}\)
Maximum velocity of sliding = ω × d = 20.94 × 0.020
= 0.418 m/s
