As we see in the figure,

Let, side of the square = a cm.

∴ length of the rectangle = (a + 4) cm.

Breadth of the rectangle = (a – 3) cm.

According to problem,

⇒ a2 = (a + 4) (a – 3)

⇒ a2 = a2 + 4a – 3a – 12

⇒ a = 12

∴ length of the rectangle = 12 + 4 = 16 cm.

Breadth of the rectangle = 12 – 3 = 9 cm.

∴ Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 × (16 + 9) = 50 cm.
