- Full-wave rectifier: It rectifies the input voltage's negative component to a positive voltage, then utilizing a diode bridge configuration converts it into DC (pulse current).
- In a full-wave rectifier, During each half-cycle, the current flows through two diodes instead of just one.
- So the amplitude of the output voltage is two voltage drops less than the input VMAX amplitude.
- So, the ripple frequency is now twice the supply frequency.
- The fundamental frequency of the ripple voltage is double that of the supply frequency whereas, for the half-wave rectifier, it is equal to the AC supply frequency.
