- It is also known as the average end area rule, it is used when the number of sections is even, and the end section is taken separately.
If A1 and A2 are areas of the ends and L is the length between two sections, the volume (V) is given by-
V = L/2 × (A1 + A2)
Important PointsPrismoidal Formula:
Assumptions:
End sections are in parallel planes.
If A1 and A2 are the areas at the ends and Am is the mid–section area and L = Length between two sections, then Volume (V) is given by:
V = L/6 × (A1 + A2 + 4Am)
Prismoidal correction is the difference between the volume calculated and that obtained from the Prismoidal formula. This correction is always subtractive i.e. Volume obtained by Prismoidal formula is more than the actual volume i.e. overestimation.
