Concept:

  • The formula for calculating the peripheral speed of a gear wheel is:

    V = π × D × N / 60

    where v is the peripheral speed in m/sec, D is the pitch diameter of the gear wheel in meters, and N is the rotational speed of the gear wheel in revolutions per minute (rpm).

Calculations:

Given:

  • Diameter of car Wheel (D)= module× no of teeth = 6× 60 =360mm
  • Rotating Speed (N) = 60 RPM

On changing the unit of questions

  • Radius = Diameter/2
  • mm to m = mm/1000

Now:

  • Radis= 360/2 = 180mm
  • 180mm/1000 = 0.18m

peripheral speed of a gear wheel V = π × D × N / 60

V =π × 0.36 × 60 / 60 = 0.6 π
