2 men and 1 woman together can complete a piece of work in 14 days. 4 women and 2 men together can do it in 8 days. If a man gets ₹ 600 per day, how much should a woman get per day ?

Given:

(2 men + 1 woman) can complete the work in 14 days

(4 women + 2 men) can complete the work in 8 days

One man get Rs. 600 per day

Formula used:

Men × days = work

Concept used:

If a person complete a work in x days, then 1 day’s work = 1/x

(2 men + 1 woman)’s 1 day’s work = 1/14

14 (2m + 1w) = 1      ---- (1)

And (4 women + 2 men)’s 1 day’s work = 1/8

8(4w + 2m) = 1      ---- (2)

On equating eqn. (1) and (2)

14 (2m + 1w) = 8(4w + 2m) 

⇒ 28m + 14w = 32w + 16m

⇒ 28m – 16m = 32w – 14w

⇒ 12m = 18w

⇒ m/w = 3/2

So, efficiency of 1 man and 1 woman is in the ratio of 3 ∶ 2 and this ratio is same as the wages of 1 man and 1 woman

600/(wage of women) = 3/2

⇒ Wage of women = Rs. 400
