स्पष्टीकरण -
सार का अर्थ होता है 'मुख्य केंद्रीय भाव'। अतः गद्यांश या कथा के केंद्रीय भाव को कहना ही 'सार-कथन' हैं। किसी कथानक के केंद्रीय भावों अर्थात् मुख्य विचारों को संक्षेप में कहना ही 'सार-कथन' कहलाता हैं। सार मूल गद्यांश का लगभग एक तिहाई भाग होता हैं।
Important Points
सार कथन के समय निम्नलिखित बातों का ध्यान रखना चाहिए -
- दिए गए अनुच्छेद को ध्यानपूर्वक पढ़ें।
- मुख्य भाव से संबंधित वाक्यों तथा शब्दों को रेखांकित करें।
- अपनी भाषा में कथानक के सार को कहने का प्रयास करें।
- भाषा सरल, स्पष्ट और संक्षिप्त होनी चाहिए।
- अनुच्छेद का शीर्षक उसके केंद्रीय भाव को प्रकट करने वाला हो।
अतः स्पष्ट है कि सार कथन एक 'पठनान्तं कार्यम्' अर्थात् प्रतिपाद्य पढ़ने के बाद का कार्य है।
