What is PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group)?

Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) are a sub-category of Scheduled Tribes identified as being more vulnerable due to their primitive traits, pre-agricultural level of technology, stagnant or declining population, extremely low literacy, and subsistence-level economy. The category was created in 1975 based on the Dhebar Commission's recommendation. There are currently 75 PVTGs in India spread across 18 states and 1 UT.
