The notification for the previous year was released for filling in 524 vacancies for the post. In the notification, the commission had released the detailed HPSC Assistant Professor selection process as well as information on the HPSC eligibility criteria, which is expected to be the same for 2025.

The post for Assistant Professor under HPSC includes 3 stages. Candidates must pass all the three stages according to the criteria set by the commission in order to be recruited for the post. The stages of the HPSC Assistant Professor selection process are:
The written exam for Assistant Professor selection process is for 100 marks consisting of multiple-choice questions based on the given HPSC syllabus. The questions will be from General Studies and the concerned subject chosen by the candidate.
The candidate needs to produce certain documents to show his academic achievements to be eligible for the post.
The interview is the second and final step of the HPSC Assistant Professor Selection Process. The candidate who qualifies in the written examination will be called in for the interview. The candidate will be tested for his mental ability, aptitude, soft skills, and knowledge of the concerned subject.

The written examination held for the post of Assistant Professor under HPSC is the first and the most important part of the HPSC Assistant Professor Selection Process. The Written Exam is of 100 marks in total consisting of multiple-choice questions from General Studies and an optional subject chosen by the candidate. The examination is conducted in both English and Hindi other than the languages paper. There is no provision of negative marking in the exam.

The maximum marks set by the commission for the academic qualification are 37.5, wherein the candidate has to produce documents to prove his eligibility for the post. A must possess either an average of 55% marks in two of the three examinations (not below Matric or equivalent) prior to Master’s degree or 50% marks in each of these two examinations separately for determining good academic record.
If the total number of marks of the candidate are different in two examinations, then the average of percentages is to be calculated by dividing the marks obtained in two examinations by the total number of marks in those two examinations.
The candidates who have cleared the examination round as per the cut-off set by the commission will be eligible for appearing in the interview. Candidates must be prepared for being tested on their General Knowledge, communication skills, and knowledge of their particular field. The candidate is eligible for the interview round prior to the document verification.
