Welding spatter is a welding defect. During welding operation due to the force of arc, some of the molten metal particles jump from weld pool and fall into other areas of the plate is called as spatter. 

Spatters: An unintentional deposit of weld metal, in the shape of small globules on the job surface along the weld is known as spatters.
