Why frosting is used

The frosting used as a way of increasing oil retention on scraped or polished surfaces.
This is important with machine parts in order to keep them lubricated and moving smoothly instead of sticky and jerky movement.
Without the frosting, the oil would runway, leaving just the two metal surfaces in contact with each other, which is likely to cause seizure of the machine.

Types and uses of scraper:

Flat scrapers with rectangular blades	Used for scraping large flat surfaces
Hook scrapers with rectangular blades	Used for scraping the centre portion of large flat surface where it is not convenient to use of flat scraper. It is used for frosting.
Half round scraper	Used for scraping curved surface.
Three square or triangular scraper	Used for scraping small diameter holes and deburring edges of accurate holes. It has point cutting edge.
Bull nose scraper	Used for scraping large bearings. It can be used two ways either with circumferential movement or longitudinal movement.
