Concept:

Pressure: It is the component of the force normal to the area under consideration.

  •  Its dimensions are [ML–1T–2]
  • The pressure is a scalar quantity since force is a vector quantity 
  •  The SI unit of pressure is Nm–2. It has been named  pascal (Pa)

FORMULA:

We know,

Pressure (P) = Force(F)/Area(A)

Calculation:

We have,

Force(F) = 1000 N

Area(A) = 5 m2

Therefore,

P = 1000/5 = 200 N/m2 = 200 Pa

Hence, the pressure is 200 Pa.
