Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFLet the present age of Ramesh be 'R', Sangeeta be 'S', and that of Mayank be 'M'.
(1) The present age of Ramesh is 7 years more than the present age of his wife Sangeeta.
.
(2) 6 years hence, the age of Ramesh will be three times that of his son Mayank. If the present age of Mayank is 10 years, implies M = 10,
⇒ (R + 6) = 3 × (M + 6)
⇒ (R + 6) = 3 × (10 + 6)
⇒ R + 6 = 3 × 16
⇒ R + 6 = 48
⇒ R = 48 - 6
⇒ R = 42
Then, we know R = 7 + S,
⇒ S + 7 = 42
⇒ S = 42 - 7
⇒ S = 35 years
Hence, 35 years is the correct answer.
