Concept used:

(a + b)2 = a2 + b2 + 2ab

Calculation:

m +  = 4

⇒ (m - 2) +  = 2

⇒ (m - 2)2 +  + 2 × (m - 2) ×  = 4

⇒ (m - 2)2 +  = 4 - 2

⇒ (m - 2)2 +  = 2

∴ The required answer is 2.
