The distance between the thief and the police is 97m
The speed of a thief is 21 m/sec
The speed of the police is 23 m/sec
Formula used
Time is taken to meet = Initial Distance / Relative Speed
Distance = speed × time
Calculation
Initial distance = 97m
Relative Speed = 23 - 21 = 2m/sec
Time is taken to catch the thief = 97/2 = 48.5 sec
∴ The policeman catches the thief in 48.5 sec.
