Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
A can do a piece of work in 32 days and B in 48 days. They work together for 8 days and then A goes away. In how much time (in days) will B finish the 60% of the remaining work?
Formula used:
Work done by A in 1 day = 1/32
Work done by B in 1 day = 1/48
Calculation:
Work done by A and B together in 1 day = 1/32 + 1/48
⇒ (3 + 2)/96 = 5/96
Work done by A and B together in 8 days = 8 × 5/96 = 40/96 = 5/12
Remaining work = 1 - 5/12 = 7/12
60% of remaining work = 60/100 × 7/12 = 7/20
Work done by B in 1 day = 1/48
Time taken by B to finish 7/20 of work = (7/20) / (1/48)
⇒ 7/20 × 48 =
∴ The correct answer is option 2.
