As US-Iran tensions escalate, Iran has issued a stark warning, threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump while he sunbathes at Mar-a-Lago. Iran’s top military official and Khamenei’s confidant, Javad Larijani, said that Trump is not safe even at his Florida residence, and he could face a ‘drone attack’ while at his lavish Florida mansion. Iran’s indignation is that Trump could be killed in a drone attack while sunbathing. ‘Trump will no longer be able to sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago like he used to. While he is lying like that, a small drone will pierce Trump’s navel. Things are that simple,’ Larijani said.
What Javad Larijani Meant
Javad Larijani has strong ties with the Iranian regime. He said that “Trump has done something so that he can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-lago. As he lies there with his stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit him in the navel. It’s very simple.” Larijani was talking to state TV. The US, in collaboration with Israel, bombed three key Iranian nuclear sites last month to halt Iran’s nuclear weapons program. In response, Iran issued a grave threat to assassinate President Donald Trump as retaliation for his role in the strikes. Trump, who frequently soaks up the sun while golfing on weekends, is reputed to favour spray-tanning.
How Trump Reacted
When asked about Iran’s assassination threat, Trump called it serious. He dismissed an Iranian official’s threat to kill him with a drone while tanning at Mar-a-Lago. Trump said he hasn’t sunbathed in years.
“It’s been a long time. I don’t know, maybe I was around seven or so. I’m not too big into it,” the president told reporters at the White House Wednesday. “I guess it’s a threat. I’m not sure it’s a threat, actually, but perhaps it is.”
Tehran agreed to a Trump-brokered cease-fire with Israel nearly 48 hours after the US strikes. After the deal, Iran has not significantly retaliated, except for launching a symbolic volley of missiles at a US airbase in Qatar. Iran provided advance notice, allowing for evacuation and interception.
Iran had allegedly tried to assassinate Trump previously as payback for the US leader’s 2020 assassination of Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani with an airstrike in Iraq.
According to The New York Post report, the Justice Department in November charged Farhad Shakeri, who remains at large, for allegedly working with Iran to monitor and murder Trump. Two alleged conspirators, Carlisle Rivera of Brooklyn and Jonathan Loadholt of Staten Island, were arrested.
The report also said that an Iranian-made video from 2022 depicted Trump being assassinated on a golf course, with the film reportedly winning Khamanei’s animation contest for work “on the topic of revenge on Trump [and other] murderers of Gen. #Soleimani.”
