As the world waits to see how Iran will respond to the US airstrikes, an Iranian military spokesperson gave a strong warning to the US on Monday. In a video message, he said that the US attacks have only increased the number of ‘legitimate targets’ that Iran can now strike.
Ebrahim Zolfaqari, the spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central military headquarters, said the US will face “serious consequences” for its actions. He also called former President Trump “the gambler” and promised that Iran will strike back.
“Mr Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it,” Zolfaqari said in English at the end of a recorded video statement.
Iran Vows Response, Says US Has Ended Diplomacy
Iran’s military has already said it will strike back after the US attacked its nuclear sites, calling it an act of self-defence.
Earlier, Iran’s ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, said that the Iranian military will decide the “time, nature and scale” of its response to the US strikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
He said at the UN security Council emergency meeting that the US “decided to destroy diplomacy” with its strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, and that the Iranian military will decide the **”timing, nature and scale of Iran’s proportionate response.”
Trump Claims Major Damage in Iran Strikes
US President Donald Trump has said that the recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites caused “monumental damage.”
Posting on Truth Social, he claimed the US hit a “bullseye” with precise strikes on all three nuclear locations.
However, while satellite images do show some damage, experts say it’s still unclear how serious it is. Some believe Iran may have tricked the US and Trump by moving important materials out of those nuclear sites before the attack.
