A short distance from Mussoorie lies the unsettling Dehra Mine in Uttarakhand. This location is known for its eerie and haunted tunnel, which has become notorious for its frightening atmosphere. Locals share numerous ghost stories about this place, and it has even been a filming location for several horror movies and TV serials. If you mention visiting this spot to the locals, you’ll find that everyone will strongly advise against going.

The Haunted Mine has been closed for years. It is said that in 1990, around 50,000 workers lost their lives during mining operations due to some faulty procedures. Those who lived near the mine developed serious lung diseases, and many workers died from persistent coughing and blood vomiting. Since then, the Dehra Mines have become one of the most dangerous places near Mussoorie. Locals explain that the area once had limestone mines, but due to the continuous deaths, the mines were shut down in 1996.

Locals claim that even today, eerie sounds can be heard at night from the mine, with voices seemingly calling out for help. Only about 20-25 people currently live in the area, and most people avoid going there at night. Notably, the number of reported incidents at the mine continues to rise each year. The mines were closed due to the accidents, and locals believe that spirits haunt the area, with cries, screams, and weeping heard at night.

The mine has now turned into a forest, with large trees growing over it. There have been reports of a helicopter crashing in the vicinity, though the cause remains unknown. No one dares to pass through the area at night. Elderly locals suggest that the place was once cursed by a witch, leading to frequent accidents.
