As per a recent revelation by Supply chain analyst Ming Chi Kuo, Apple might be working on an all new Budget variant of the MacBook that would be powered by the A18 PRO chipset. This would be the first Mac to ever use an A series chips from the iPhone. The A18 already does duty on the A16 pro and Promax variants, the processor has a 6 core CPU, a 6 Core GPU and a 16 core neural engine.
As per the reports, the A 18 would be around 40% slower than the premium Apple M4 chip, since the A18 has a multi-core architecture its performance would very much be similar to that of the 2020 MacBook Air. the A18 would be able to offer better graphics than that of the A18 chip. Somewhere between $699 and $899.
As per kuo the potential color options for the MacBook would be Silver, Blue, Pink and Yellow. Since the A 18 can only support 8GB of RAM. its possible that the new budget MacBook might be launched with a single type c port without any thunderbolt speeds.
The A18 pro chip lacks Thunderbolt support, so the new MacBook would be equipped with regular USB-C ports. Although the port looks similar to that of the thunderbolt ports it can only transfer data at a speed of 10GB/s. One of the most drastic compromises with the A 18 would be the limitation to only 8GB of RAM, since all current Macbook Air and Macbook pro models start with at least 16GB of RAM.
While Apple has also been planning to relaunch the 12-Inch MacBook, the New MacBook would be equipped with an Approximately 13-inch Display matching the smaller MacBook air. Still the MacBook could have a lot in common with the old 12 inch MacBook in spirit, including the Ultrathin and Lightweight design.
Mass production of the new device is being forecasted to start in 2025 or early 2026 with shipments would start from the early 2026 as well. Ever since Apple has shifted to Apple Silicon from the Intel Processors, there had been rumor’s about the launch of the simple MacBook Model. The Arm Architecture would pave the way for an iPhone Chip to be used in Mac, since Apple has to no longer worry about the power efficiency constraints of Intel processors.
