Pat Cummins captaincy speciality is leading by example, and more often than not when the team was under the pressure he has produced results in favour of his team. He has repeated it once again in the WTC final by taking six wickets in the first innings of South Africa. Most crucial of them all was the dismissal of Temba Bavuma in the 40th over. During the process, Cummins overtook Richie Benaud in the charts of most dismissals of opposition captains in Test cricket history. He has now achieved the milestone of dismissing 19 skippers in Test cricket whereas Richie Benaud has 18 dismissals.
List Of 5 Captains Who Have Achieved This Milestone
- 19 – Pat Cummins
- 18 – Richie Benaud
- 15 – Imran Khan and Jason Holder
- 12 – Garry Sobers
- 11 – Daniel Vettori
What Happened On The Day 2 Of WTC Final
South Africa had to regret numerous missed opportunities and DRS slip-ups as Australia scrapped back on Day 2 to extend their advantage to 218 runs in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s in London. Proteas find themselves back in the match courtesy of Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada after Australia had built a 74-run lead in the first innings and at some point were struggling at 73/7. But an unbeaten 61-run partnership between Alex Carey (43) and Mitchell Starc resolved to drag Australia back into the match on the final Day 2. At Stumps, the holders were 144/8 with two balls left in the day with Marco Jansen putting down Starc. South Africa too have squandered their two reviews.
