With Gautam Gambhir Back In India, Will BCCI Turn To THIS Former Cricketer For Coaching Duties?

Team India was in the middle of the rehearsal of the first Test match that was to be played on June 20 when Gautam Gambhir left.

Lately, when the Team India coach Gautam Gambhir was forced to abruptly fly down to India because his mother had a heart attack, millions of fans were worried. As the concerned team of Indian cricket, Team India was in the middle of the rehearsal of the first Test match that was to be played on June 20, when this bad news emerged.

To help keep the preparations of the team on track, BCCI reached out to VVS Laxman as the temporary head coach till Gambhir returns to England. The team is at present involved in a four-day practice match against Gill and India A, and it was assigned to VVS Laxman since he is already in England as the head of the Centre of Excellence (which was earlier called NCA). Laxman is also an India the head coach and the Indian under-19 coach.

Currently, Laxman is in England as head coach of the Indian Under-19 team, whose players include Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who have recently made their debut in the IPL in Chennai. The Indian Under-19 team will play a series of seven-match series against England between June 17 to July 23.

VVS Laxman himself has once acted as the interim head coach of Team India in numerous occasions. In addition to this, he has collaborated with a lot of the present players at the NCA. Hence, within no time after Gambhir rushed back to India in the emergency, BCCI naturally handed over the responsibility of the senior team to Laxman. Gautam Gambhir will be back in England by June 20, when India play England in the first test of the five-match series.
