Punjab Kings (PBKS) romped into their first IPL final in more than a decade on the back of a masterful knock by captain Shreyas Iyer in their high-pressure chase against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 on Sunday evening. While the dramatic victory hogged all the limelight, Iyer’s fiery argument with teammate Shashank Singh in the post-match moments grabbed quite some attention.
Pursuing a daunting goal of 204 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, PBKS were in a quandary in the middle of an innings. However, Iyer stepped up, steadying the innings with a breathtaking unbeaten 87 of 41 deliveries, including five boundaries and eight sixes.
His heroics propelled Punjab to the highest successful run chase in IPL history against Mumbai Indians, securing a much-awaited final return, where they will meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
But, the party was briefly marred by an instant of unease – a post-match video surfaced where Iyer was seen visibly agitated with Shashank Singh. The clip that went viral in no time showed the PBKS skipper engaged in harsh exchanges and appeared to ignore a handshake gesture from his team-mate.
