As the IPL is all set to be back after week’s break due to the India-Pakistan conflicts and bounce off from 17th May 2022. The young cricketer Prithvi Shaw has now set tongues wagging over his future following sharing of a cryptic message on social media before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumption. The 25 year old batter, who was one time billed the future of Indian cricket, posted “NEED A BREAK” on his Instagram story on Wednesday.

When IPL restarts and teams get into full swing of a busy schedule culminating in final on June 3rd. Amid the BCCI bringing a rule for the temporary replacement player to aid the franchises in the player’s unavailability, there is a little hope that Prithvi Shaw will be considered as a replacement.

Prithvi Shaw’s IPL Career
This young cricketer debuted in the IPL in 2018, and he played 79 matches in total. He started with an astounding imprint and scored 1,892 runs at an average of 23.94 and a strike-rate of 147.46 from his debut. After this, he last played for DC in IPL 2024 where he made 198 runs at an average of 24.75 and a strike-rate of 163.63 in 8 matches. At the end of IPL’s 17th edition, DC released him before the 2025 season once again after he had a lacklustre season. In the ongoing 18th edition of the tournament Shaw therefore went unsold after no franchise offered anything for him despite having put his base price at ₹ 75 lakh for the IPL 2025 mega auction.
