Premier League: Tottenham’s Missed Chances Haunt Them In Loss To Nottingham Forest By 2-1

Tottenham faced an unexpected crushing defeat in their Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest by 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Nottingham Forest defeated Tottenham 2-1 during a match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their Premier League face off. Elliot Anderson began the scoring by striking a half-volley before Chris Wood doubled Forest’s lead through a clinical header taken after Elanga’s cross. Forest maintained control of the match despite Wood’s second goal getting cancelled for an offside violation. The 87th minute brought a header from Pedro Porro’s cross when Richarlison scored to trim Forest’s lead but Tottenham failed to gain an equalising goal during their late offensive surge.

Tottenham’s Shortcomings Which Costed Them The Match

During the first part of the match Tottenham showed weaknesses in defending their goal. Forest scored their goals through poorly controlled set pieces and crosses from the opposite sides. The midfield section of Tottenham’s team struggled to maintain control of situations under pressure so they ended up giving away numerous easy fouls. The team struggled with finishing their plays because Richarlison produced a missed header opportunity from set pieces while Tel and Kulusevski both ended up sending their shots away from the goal.

What Could Have Tottenham Done To Win The Match

The Spurs defence needed to create tighter formations and rush in to block Forest’s attacking attacks from the sides. Timely increased pressure at kickoff combined with stable midfield organisation would allow Spurs to establish control over the game. The game’s results might have been different if Nottingham Forest had scored off even one of their multiple missed scoring opportunities in the attacking third.
