A thrilling Champions League semi-final second leg at San Siro saw Inter Milan defeat Barcelona 4-3 to finish the aggregate matchup at 7-6 following extra time. Inter Milan started their scoring with Martinez and Calhanoglu’s penalty while Barcelona responded with goals from Garcia followed by Olmo and Raphinha. Acerbi scored in stoppage time so Inter faced extra time and Frattesi sealed the victory with a final goal. Yann Sommer made numerous decisive saves as goal keeper while preventing Yamal and other opponents from scoring throughout the match.
Barcelona’s Defensive Fragility And Missed Chances
Barcelona suffered because their aggressive defensive organization combined with defensive indiscipline allowed them down. Cubarsi committed an offense against Lautaro Martinez which resulted in Barcelona’s key penalty decision and Inigo Martinez and Carlos Augusto faced issues with both pace and positioning. Barcelona controlled most of the match but their defensive efforts allowed four goals to slip past. Yamal displayed his captivating individual talents repeatedly during the match although his team succumbed to uncontrolled finishing and Lewandowski’s final miss reflected their wastefulness.

What Barcelona Could Have Done To Win The Match
A better use of defensive substitution timing combined with better positional understanding would have strengthened Barcelona’s defensive foundation. Beside restricting Inter’s counterattacks through tighter defensive positioning Barcelona risked losing control of their aggregate victory lead. The offense would have been stronger if Barcelona had successfully completed more of Yamal’s nine goal attempts and reacted more quickly to Sommer’s defensive saves. Lewandowski should’ve entered the match ahead of 90+1 instead of waiting so long which might have secured victory in regulation.
