YEIDA Powers Up: 100 Acres To Be Allocated For EV Trust Near Noida Airport, Boosting Sector-10 With EV Manufacturing Cluster

Along with this, the authority said that a startup, which makes EV batteries for two-wheeler vehicles like Royal Enfield, will be allotted 10,000 square meters of land in the 206-acre Electronics Manufacturing Cluster-2 (EMC-2) located in Sector-10.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has decided to allot 100 acres of land to the Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Welfare Trust (EVMWT), which wants to set up an integrated project for manufacturing electric vehicles near the Noida International Airport. Officials informed on Thursday that the authority has issued a letter of intent (LOI) to the trust after it sought the land. YEIDA has assured to provide land in Sector-8 for this project.

Along with this, the authority said that a startup, which makes EV batteries for two-wheeler vehicles like Royal Enfield, will be allotted 10,000 square meters of land in the 206-acre Electronics Manufacturing Cluster-2 (EMC-2) located in Sector-10. Havells has already been given 50 acres of land in this cluster as an anchor company, and three other major companies have also got plots.

Authority official Singh informed that Ninjas Electric has been issued an LOI to manufacture electric vehicle chargers, LED lighting panels and solar-based technologies in Sector-10. The startup was started in 2021, is headquartered in Noida, and has its manufacturing units located in Greater Noida.

Hindustan Times quoted Arun Vir Singh, CEO of YEIDA, saying, “The EVMWT will set up a dedicated cluster for EV autorickshaw and two-wheeler production, along with component manufacturing. The land acquisition work is currently in progress in Sector 8. The LoI issued for the 100-acre allotment is subject to approval of the Invest UP Empowered Committee, state policy guidelines, and other applicable regulatory norms.”

Last week, Dixon Technologies was allotted 22.5 acres of land in the EMC 2.0 cluster, making it the third company to join this industrial hub. Dixon has been given an LOI to set up a unit to manufacture mobile phones, consumer electronics, telecom equipment, lighting products and household items (white goods).

Apart from this, Ascent-K Circuits and Aurionpro Toshi Automatic Systems have also been allowed to set up units under the central government scheme. According to officials, this cluster spread over 206 acres is getting tremendous response from the leading industrial companies of the country.

The CEO of the authority said that the process of land acquisition in Sector-10 is also in progress. The EMC 2.0 project was formally approved by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Minister of State Jitin Prasada on Wednesday. Earlier, it had received in-principle approval from the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) in the 7th Project Review Committee meeting held in April.
