Bihar’s first 6-lane expressway has received its final structural alignment. The central government has approved the expressway route between Patna, the state capital, and Purnia. Although Patna is not included in the current alignment, the government has approved the path stretching from Meernagar in Vaishali to Purnia.

The expressway will pass through seven districts. The new alignment of the Patna-Purnia Expressway will pass through largely unutilized areas. The regions this road will cross are expected to experience a significant transformation. Real estate values within a 10-20 kilometer radius of the road are anticipated to rise substantially. Experts predict that land prices near the expressway could increase by as much as tenfold.

An additional route will be developed to create a four-lane road from the Meernagar area in Vaishali to the Dighwara area in Saran. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has confirmed that there are no major challenges in connecting Dighwara to Patna. Construction is already underway on a 6-lane bridge across the Ganga River, connecting Dighwara in Saran district to Sherpur in Patna. A decision has been made to connect Sherpur with the Patna Ring Road system. The Patna-Purnia Expressway will establish a direct connection with Danapur as part of its design. The route will be connected to the proposed Patna Ring Road.
