Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: 23 Patients Died During Doctor’s Strike, Mamata Govt Informs Supreme Court

Sibal is representing the West Bengal Government after the Supreme Court on the RG Kar trainee doctor’s rape-murder case. Taking to the Suo moto cognizance the state govt. has now filed a status report of the investigation.

However, the solicitor general has told a completely different picture and stated that he has not received any report yet. But the bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and other justices told that they received the report in a sealed cover.

The center highlighted the West Bengal state Government’s failure to provide logistical support to the CISF, which is responsible for taking care of the security at RG Kar Medical College.

TMC’s Non-Cooperative Behaviour Highlighted

The home ministry in its letter described the TMC’s non-cooperative behaviour and directed that the state authorities should provide complete support to CISF.

Junior doctors have been on strike since August 9 demanding justice for the trainee doctor who was brutally raped and murdered.

HC Hands Over The Kolkata Doctor Case To CBI

The Kolkata High Court has taken the case from the local police and has transferred it to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). But nearly one month into the CBI’s probe only one arrest has been made so far.

The CBI official told PTI the investigation has been hampered due to the missing evidence from the crime scene and because of this it is getting difficult to connect the key elements.
