Among the projects are significant investments of Rs 760 crore in the vicinity of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, including the laying of the foundation stone for a Skill Training Centre and a Common Facility Centre (CFC) of the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) within the Plastic Park, adjacent to the expressway.

The Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), rapidly emerging as a key hub on the industrial map of Uttar Pradesh, is poised for a major boost with development projects worth Rs 1,551 crore ready for inauguration and foundation stone laying. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to dedicate these projects formally soon.

The Plastic Park initiative, developed under the Central Government’s Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, aims to enhance India’s share in global plastic trade through cluster-based development. Ten such parks have been approved across the country, and Uttar Pradesh’s first Plastic Park is being developed on 88 acres of land in village Narkataha, acquired by GIDA near the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. The project, valued at Rs 69.58 crore, includes a 25% grant from the Central Government.

Of the 92 plots earmarked for plastic product units within the park, nearly five dozen have already been allotted — a testament to the strong interest shown by entrepreneurs. With multiple units already operational, the project has emerged as one of India’s most successful plastic parks.

CM Yogi is slated to inaugurate three such units with a combined investment of Rs 120 crore. These include Technoplast Packaging Private Limited, with a Rs 96 crore investment, creating 250 jobs; Om Flax Industries Private Limited, with a Rs 17 crore investment, creating 50 jobs; and Gajanan Polyplast, with a Rs 7 crore investment, creating 25 jobs.

In Sector 27 of GIDA, land has been allotted to three prominent private companies: APL Apollo Tubes Limited, Greentech Bharat Private Limited (SLMG Group), and Kapila Agro Industries. Together, these companies will invest Rs 640 crore and are expected to generate employment for around 1,200 individuals (direct and indirect). The Chief Minister will also lay the foundation stones of these units.

In addition, CIPET is set to establish a Skill Training Centre and Common Facility Centre in the Plastic Park at a cost of Rs 16 crore, for which GIDA has provided five acres of land free of cost. GIDA is preparing to lay the foundation stone for this project in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi.

Furthermore, to ensure the scientific and environmentally friendly disposal of industrial waste, a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) is being developed at Adilapar. Spread across 11.15 acres and costing Rs 93.52 crore, the CETP will cater to the treatment needs of industrial units within the GIDA area. Its foundation stone is also scheduled to be laid during the event.

Apart from these, development works worth Rs 281 crore — including infrastructure projects such as roads, drainage systems, culverts, street lighting, and electrification — are also ready for inauguration and the laying of foundation stones in the GIDA region.

The program will also feature the formal distribution of allotment letters for the Kalesar Housing Scheme in Sector 11, developed at a cost of Rs 400 crore. A total of 496 applications were received for 242 residential plots in the 110-acre housing project, which were allotted through an e-lottery. The scheme has generated a profit of Rs 48.27 crore for GIDA.
