New Delhi: The central government has announced that the board exams will be conducted twice a year under a new curriculum that is rolled out in sync with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Meanwhile, students can retain the best marks from either of the exams, reported news agency PTI.

All major points to know 

  • Board examinations to be conducted twice a year and scholars will be allowed to retain their best score.
  • Board examinations will assess understanding, achievement of capabilities than months of guiding and memorisation.
  • Choice of subjects in classes 11,12 will not be confined to streams, scholars to get inflexibility to choose.
  • Class 11, 12 scholars need to study two languages, at least one language must be Indian.
  • Additonally, handbooks to be developed for 2024 academic session. Current practice of ‘covering ’ handbooks in classroom will be avoided, cost of handbooks to be optimised.
  • Board test inventors, observers to go through university- certified courses before taking up this work.
