Teachers’ Protest

Meanwhile, public school teachers across the state wear headbands and black badges while working on Teachers’ Day to protest a range of issues, reported the news agency PTI. At least 15 teacher associations have decided to protest against the government and teachers in 75,309 public schools wear headbands and black badges when working, said Raju Singh, president of the TET primary teachers association.

Singh asked the government to stop involving teachers in government activities, including election-related work. Organizers said teachers will also burn effigies of Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav outside state offices on September 9.

The Department of Education on Monday withdrew a controversial order to reduce the number of teacher holidays on Diwali, Durga Pooja, Raksha Bandhan and other festivals from 23 to 11, following the government order.

A journalist posted the video. See here.
