Believe It Or Not: Relatives Enter Hospital Labour Room To Retrieve Souls Of Kin Who Died 14 And 17 Years Ago

These rituals were performed by families whose members had died in the same hospital 14 and 17 years ago. These religious activities included chanting mantras, chanting slogans, and worship at the gate and other sensitive areas of the hospital. Villagers say that a local tantric told them that the souls of their dead relatives were trapped in the hospital, due to which peace and prosperity were not coming to the families.

A recent incident at the Nainwa sub-district hospital in Bundi has raised serious questions about the prevalence of superstition in public health services. Inside the hospital, even in the labour room, some villagers were found performing tantric rituals, claiming that they had come to take away the souls of their dead relatives. People present there were shocked to see this sight.

On the advice of the tantric, the families went straight to the labour room, shouting religious slogans and started worshipping the weighing machine of the newborn baby. What should have been an atmosphere of healing and peace was replaced by loud chants and prayers. The group claimed that they took the spirits out of the hospital in a bag.

Nainwa district hospital chief medical officer Krishna Kumar Prajapat said, “Families often do this due to superstition. We try our best to convince them.”

According to hospital sources, the two incidents pertain to a man who died during treatment in 2010 and a newborn baby who died in the labour room 17 years ago. Both families returned to the hospital this week to free their spirits. Though the families returned satisfied, the hospital staff did not try to stop them, raising questions about the accountability of the administration.

The family of one of the deceased said that they felt relieved after these rituals, and they believe that now their beloved soul has been freed.

After this incident, a large number of locals gathered outside the hospital, wondering how such superstitious activities could take place in a hospital that is considered a temple of science and healing.

This is not the first time such a case has come to light in the region. Two days ago, a similar incident was reported in Bundi District Hospital, which shows a worrying trend.

These incidents are once again giving rise to a discussion on the role of superstition in modern India, especially in places dedicated to science and public welfare. Questions are being raised as to when the administration will take effective steps to stop these incidents.
