Older vehicles that have passed their designated 15 year permissible age are up for a challenge as, End of Life Vehicles in the national capital would be seized from July 1 Tuesday. The new changes have been implemented by the Commission of Air Quality management (CAQM) earlier, EOL vehicles stretched at fuel stations or found parked at public places. Beyond that owners of vehicles that are certified as EOL would be slapped with a penalty of Rs 10,000. And EEOL two wheelers would be slapped with a penalty of Rs 5000.
Any petrol vehicle which is older than 15 years of age from its registration and any diesel vehicle that is 10 years of age from its registration date would be considered as EOL vehicle. Beyond that, CAQM has reported that these vehicles would not be offered to such vehicles. All impounded vehicles would be sent to a registered vehicle scrapping facility. If the owner seeks to move the vehicle out of Delhi he or she would have to get a No objection certificate with in a year of the vehicles registrations last date.
Five Other Districts to Roll out Similar Mechanism From November 1
While Delhi government has sought to take stern action from July 1 five other high vehicle density districts of NCR adjoining Delhi will roll out the same mechanism for November 1. These districts would include Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budhnagar and Sonipat. As per the reports it has been established that fuel stations in these cities would install ANPR cameras and deny fuel to any EOL vehicle starting from April 1 2026.
The report has further stated that enforcement agencies would be out on regular drives to remove EOL vehicles from public places on Delhi and send daily reports to the department for submissions to CAQM. The users would be restricted from moving their vehicles out of Delhi without issuing a no Objection Certificate within a year of Vehicles expiry date.
Delhi’s Massive EOL Vehicle line Up Including 41 Lakh Two Wheelers
As per the data shared by CAQM, Delhi currently has 62 lakh EOL vehicles, and 41 lakh of The, are two wheelers. Other districts have showcased close to about 44 lakh.
